We then see this manifest in discriminatory hiring practices, biased treatment in courtrooms, and the types of brutal police treatment that have taken the lives of unarmed black men like Eric Garner, Michael Brown and Akai Gurley. The result is that our communities are put in double jeopardy, first by overzealous police and then by news stations acting as public relations firms.
