Research ReportIt's a hot summer day and you're drinking in the refreshing Capri sun. Man, you taste disgusting and slimy! There have been many stories about slimy mold in juice bags: “A 10-year-old Mooresville boy made a disturbing discovery in his Capri Sun juice package. "'He went to take a sip of the drink and started choking." , Christina Stewart said. “So he took the worm out of his mouth and said, 'Oh my, that's disgusting.'” (Mold website) I wanted to test this problem and learn about mold in juice boxes. My experiment was to leave the solar bags of Goats in natural environments containing fruit juices, for a reasonable period of time, and opening them to see if mold appeared At the end of the experiment, I learned that, although most of the time, the temperatures and humidity levels were perfect, mold didn't form. I then conducted a second experiment, where every second the temperature and humidity levels were right, and learned that the lack of mold was probably due to the protective case or lack of airflow. Therefore, I think this experiment was very interesting to conduct.* http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/caprisun.asp#KKPk9TRWQaQgKt92.99I chose this issue and project because I heard many rumors on the news that this had happened 3 important events, all of children drinking the cold Capri sun on a hot day and tasting a horrible taste. They cut open the bag and found only one thing: black, slimy mold! In one incident, a worm-shaped object was even found inside the bag. For example: “WARNING TO ALL PARENTS: My friend Jennifer gave her son a Capri Sun on Saturday and he told her it tasted funny. He took a sip and said it tasted like pure alcohol. I opened it and there was nothing but mold inside. Evidently, in this... medium of paper... n, I see that the mold situations in the news, on the internet and in the newspapers are either expired, have a hole, or, the environment was very extreme. But I think that even in an extreme environment, it should have been a long time, without ups and downs. Overall, I think my experiment was a success and I proved that mold is very rare in juice packaging.
