I learned more through this essay than I learned in my four years of high school English. Being able to learn so much information in such a short time was amazing to me. I learned different types of rhetorical styles to write in, what the purpose of each is, how to have online discussions with other colleagues, and finally I learned how to improve my overall writing skills. An important lesson I learned was to use different rhetorical styles. when you write to make your article make more sense and seem more complete. There are so many different types of rhetorical styles you can add to a paper, but the ones I enjoyed using this semester were clear, quick, or sweet. I liked writing in a clear style because it was simple and didn't require much thought. I also liked quick styles because they were short and to the point. The sweet style is something I really enjoyed writing in because it was something to please other people and not just myself. Another type of style I loved to write in was confrontation. I liked writing comparative papers because it gave you not just one topic to write about but two, which would make it easier to find information to write about. Logos, Pathos and Ethos are always present in my essays and I have always tried to insert at least one out of two in every paragraph I write in my articles. When writing for specific purposes it is always helpful to choose certain rhetorical styles that fit your topic. . When I decided to write about something personal I made sure to use Pathos to win the hearts of my readers. I tend to use this strategy more because it's something that came easy to me. Whenever I had to write about something I research, I would...... middle of paper ...... or do with a topic I like to talk about, other than the fact that I hate having to go on the Internet and search for good resources to add to my article. Ultimately, this semester really helped me with my writing skills. It opened my eyes to the simple fact that writing doesn't always have to be miserable and boring. Having the right topic to write about can make or break your attitude towards the papers you have to write, personal ones have never been something I would be afraid to write. Learning how to incorporate rhetorical styles into my articles has really helped me liven them up and make them more interesting. Online discussions showed me how to be more outgoing and reach out to other people to help me edit my article and ultimately return the favors. Overall, this English course has changed my view of English in general and has really helped me enjoy it a little more.
