Numerous threats and attacks on and agencies have pushed all types of businesses to raise their security game as laws have come into force. The reality is that “a substantial number of business leaders lack confidence in their organizations' level of preparedness – in part due to a shortage of cybersecurity skills within their organizations” (New Study Provides Cybersecurity Insight for Corporate Counsel, 2015). Some of these laws specifically target certain areas, such as the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015. Information sharing between businesses has shown a significant increase in cybersecurity preparedness. Not only have these companies reported being able to defend themselves against new attacks similar to previous ones, but they have also gained more knowledge about how to legally and correctly manage certain aspects of cybersecurity.
