Discovery LearningDiscovery learning is constructivist in nature, but the two are not synonymous; it's a kind of constructivism. Discovery learning is a teaching method that relies on students' natural curiosity and reasoning skills to discover information on their own with little or no input from the teacher. Students are presented with the problems to solve and the materials needed to reach the desired conclusion, but students must do it on their own. There may be more than one way to solve the problem presented. There may be multiple correct answers. The teacher takes on the role of "lateral guide", no explicit answers are given. In purely discovery learning, no input is given after the problem is presented. Students construct solutions to the presented problems and discover the targeted concepts on their own.
