In this way the media is at the service of two masters. One is the desire to create and maintain a cultural norm, the other is the almighty dollar. Profitability has been a major reason why lesbian pulp novels have become popular, because it is this ability to make a profit that creates such high interest and brings interested parties to get involved. Money and power usually dictate who controls the narrative, and most of the time it's rich white men. Ultimately it is their interests that are protected, so it only makes sense for the media to represent them
