A professional social worker always ensures anti-discrimination practice in relation to client services. As Thompson (2012:9) pointed out, “no matter how high his standards may be in other respects,” a first-class professional recognizes the “marginalized position” of some people in a society. For example, a social worker who provides quality services to people other than minorities has failed to provide customer service and is instead doing a disservice. However, discrimination against a person is unlawful when that person belongs to the protected class. A protected class is protected by law. A supervisor asks a representative of the institution to go to the local university for career advice, but he wants one of the graduates of that particular university to go there. This is not a discriminatory situation for other colleagues as non-graduates of that college do not belong to a protected class. The law takes tough action against employers who make decisions based on race, color, disability or sex. A professional organization creates professionals if it strictly enforces the code of ethics that prohibits discrimination. A good professional knows the law and how to apply it at work. The 18th century sought to address Britain's need for a greater force to deal with crime and disorder. A local town watchman was unable to ensure the community's safety, and the army's involvement resulted in unrest. Consequently, in 1829 the Metropolitan Police was formed by the Home Secretary, Robert Peel. It marked the beginning of modern policing (Rogers et al, 2011). Initially, the main purpose of the police service was to fight crimes without the help of the army. They started gradually... halfway through the paper... the task was done on time. A police officer has a long way to go to facilitate a successful career. There are many difficulties that can only be handled with a great set of skills. An officer who has the ability to show a responsible attitude or evaluate difficult situations with a positive approach is a professional capable of developing intelligence. Furthermore, it can be observed that the recruitment team requires candidates with excellent physical condition. It is because a career in the police service requires courage and initiative even in life-threatening situations. Furthermore, numerical skills develop the ability to think logically in spontaneous situations. Anyone who is ready to take the lead on this journey should be prepared for hard work. “A strong sense of one's identity as a professional” is the perfect tool to “make a difference in the world” (Edwards, 2010:1).
