No one is above the law. Those who break it will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The United States was based on an idea, the idea of letting people control themselves. Laws have been put in place to protect not only ourselves but others around us. The law is important, even more so to the extent that we Americans do not have to do atrocious things against each other. Speed limits have been introduced to ensure the safety of all motorists on the roads. If a man was speeding and hit another car, driving a pregnant woman, killing her, how would people react? People would be outraged. Speed cameras would have a significant increase in frequency. The driver who killed the other driver would not be able to forgive himself, assuming he is not a sadist, and would be in prison for vehicular and manslaughter. The law was created to protect, officers were created to enforce the law, and people must understand the law. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should disobey laws meant to protect human life. Total disregard for the law or intentional and malicious violation of the law should result in complete termination of the relationship. Neither policemen, nor soldiers, nor citizens, nor government officials, nor senators, nor members of Congress, nor the President are above the law. No American soul is above the law. The law was laid down by the founders of this country, and that law has brought this country to where we as Americans are
