Social classes have determined how people function in a society for many centuries. These social classes provide strict standards for how one should act and live in one's class. Social classes also play a role in education. Children from higher social classes will receive a higher education than those from lower social classes. This causes a large educational gap. In Charles Dickens' novel Hard Times, characters are not afraid to venture outside their social classes to seek advice from others. Uneducated people always follow the advice of educated people. OR Members of lower social classes always follow the advice of those of higher social classes. Stephen Blackpool decides to seek advice from Mr. Bounderby, a man with a much higher status than himself.
