Friday Night FootballFriday night Football: the night everyone is preparing for. I can smell the grassy field and the sweaty players. It's five o'clock and I'm getting ready for the game. Taking my time and making sure everything is perfect, from every single strand of hair in the right place to making sure there are no wrinkles on my uniform. As I look at the clock, it says 5:45, I better hurry because I have to be at the game at 6, and I still have to pick up your friend. I rush out the door and run down the street. As I run down the street, I look everywhere to make sure there isn't a policeman anywhere. I finally arrive at my friend's house and wait for her. He runs out of the house and gets into my car. As I walk down the street, she's still doing her makeup, making sure it's at its perfection. Finally we reach the football field. We rush down to the field, making sure we aren't late, but when we get to the field, our makeup is running down our faces and our hair is disheveled. There's no one there yet, just the player's warm-up and us. There's Jock Jams playing in the background to help motivate players. Let's start the warm-up to make sure everything is okay. At this point it's 6:30, thirty minutes until kick-off. Everyone starts arriving. The band begins marching down the path, playing our school fight song. Plus, in the background you can hear the players warming up to their most famous beat. At this time it's 6:50, it's time to play the anthem. When I hear the announcer come on the speaker, everything goes silent. It's quiet and the only thing I can hear are cars in the distance driving down the highway and bugs flying around your head. Through the crackling speakers I hear the announcer ask everyone to stand for the national anthem. At this moment I hear the crowd rising from the bleachers and a wave of silence hangs over them as the band begins to play. I feel the tension of the players as they stand in silence. Looking at them, I see steam rising from their heads, for heating.
