We, as healthcare professionals, must use the principles of art and science described in the article in order to personalize treatment and have deep empathy for who the client is ( Wood, 1995 ). For example, a nurse can use these principles to perceive his client as more than his diagnosis and list of symptoms, but more as a person with values, beliefs and a soul, in order to provide a more therapeutic approach. holistic (Turpin, 2007). For occupational therapists, this article is relevant because it will enable reflection on their own way of practicing and will initiate a dialogue between occupational therapists to discuss their use of art and science as a fundamental principle in their treatment. It is important for us as occupational therapists to take a pause and really analyze where we have been and where we would like to see our profession in the near future. In this way we can take a more critical perspective towards our professions to develop a more holistic perspective in order to see a client as a whole person (Turpin, 2007).
