The Aztecs and the Incas have many similarities such as religious beliefs and opinions about the gods. The Incas' views on training for warfare are different, and the Aztecs' artifacts are somewhat different. Even the agricultural land compared to that of the Incas is different, because where the Aztecs lived the land was about ten thousand feet elevated. The religious beliefs of the Aztecs were bloody and they believed they had to make many sacrifices to appease the gods. Sacrifices were an important aspect of Aztec religion. At the root of these interesting rituals was the belief that the gods needed to be fed by humans. This was accomplished through human blood. They did this with a practice called bloodletting. Bloodletting means intentionally harming and taking blood from the body. Those who had higher status within the Aztec religion were expected to donate more blood during these Aztec rituals. The Aztec gods and goddesses not only wanted blood, but they wanted living human hearts. Living hearts were believed to nourish the gods and goddesses. All hearts were good, but the bravest prisoners had to feed the gods better, as a result widespread wars occurred. The Aztec people sought to bring captives back to Aztec temples for sacrifice. They sacrificed people in the name of the gods. Sometimes, those who practiced the Aztec religion sacrificed only one person. Other times, hundreds or even thousands of prisoners were sacrificed at a time. Every Aztec sacrifice, however, occurred in the same way. The prisoner or prisoners were taken to a pyramid or temple and placed on an altar. The Aztec priest then made an incision in the captive's ribcage and removed the living heart. The heart was then burned and… middle of paper… good for their bodies. The Aztecs and Incas seemed to be a tribe very devoted to each other. Even though they lived a few thousand kilometers away from each other and didn't know each other, they were very well known. The artifacts left behind show that they were very advanced and thanks to the food they ate they knew how to take care of their bodies. The Aztecs and Incas also knew how to prepare for war. These two tribes are some of the finest warriors known to man.
