In one of the most successful films of Bollywood (Indian cinema) - 'Om Shanti Om' the director shows a scene in which the actor is the producer of the film in which he wants to cast his wife but he tells her to remove the sindoor from her forehead and she denies it saying, "A pinch of sindoor is God's blessing, a pinch of sindoor is a married woman's crown, a pinch of sindoor is every woman's dream ." This was the most popular and praised part of that film which reflects the idea of how much a woman should dedicate herself to her sindoor. Since it is a woman's duty to take care of her sindoor, she must ensure that the dose of sindoor is not wiped off or the box in which it is hurt falls. Yesterday I was watching an Indian show, "Yeh Rista Kya Kehlata He", when I came across a scene where the wife suddenly drops her sindoor box and at the same moment her husband gets shot. The media encourages us to develop perceptions that draw a clear line between gender as a whole
