Betty Goodwin is a contemporary artist, whose work highlights a variety of significantly growing issues in life, especially among humans and society. Most of his most famous artworks consist of very warm and dark colors such as heavy shades of red and black. It also uses a lot of negative space as it carefully places the subject in a specific position and pose. Viewers often find that his work contains a great deal of detail in terms of context and media application. Say no to plagiarism. Get an original essay In 1983, Goodwin created one of his famous pieces titled “Moving Towards Fire,” which is part of his “swimmers series.” This particular artwork is made with "Oil, colored chalk and graphite on three sheets of thin paper". The subject of the image, the body, appears to float in the lower right corner of the woven paper. Goodwin uses texture through strokes of red and hints of white space to make the man's floating form appear burnt. In my artwork, I made an effort to imitate this violent but crude style on an apple. I chose to use soft pastel because, from previous experience, I found that it would allow me to blend more easily onto the stationery. I first tried a mix of different colors that matched Goodwin's color scheme. Then, to create a similar texture I added some peach/beige strokes on the surface of the apple, more precisely on the lighter portions. In his work, Goodwin also creates a “watery” effect surrounding the human being that appears like heat given off by flames. This effect provides context and is therefore one of the reasons why his image appears visually interesting. In my work, I used my fingers to blend the red light around the apple to mimic its style in the image, while creating a violent red aura that represents the heat of the flames. Goodwin uses value to bring out the human form of the subject seen through the variation of light and dark areas around the body. I added value to my apple by blending, blending and blending light and dark toned colors. Adding value really brings my work to life as it emphasizes the rawness and definition of the apple. The apple, in my case, symbolizes human society as it is the root cause of most of the good and bad events in the world. The burning apple is a representation of the gradual degradation and turmoil that humans are rapidly moving towards. To conclude, Betty Goodwin's artwork really appealed to me because of its indeterminacy. As a viewer, I found the composition and style of his work to be quite unique and visually intriguing. After conducting research into his artistic drive, I was even more drawn to his work. This is mainly because I have never seen an artist who highlights the darkness of humanity in such an astonishingly expressive way. I liked imitating his style through the essentiality of a simple apple. I was very amazed by the final result of my artwork because, although it was virtually an apple, it now conveyed a much deeper meaning that can be left up to an individual's interpretation..
